After years of planning, the Village will engage in the rehabilitation of Main Street from Ogden Avenue to Burlington Avenue, and School Street from Main Street to Spencer Avenue. This project will enhance the experience in Downtown Lisle for businesses, residents, and visitors, while maintaining its historic look and charming feel within the community.
Scope
The scope of work includes removal and replacement of sidewalks and curbs, placement of new decorative brick pavers, improvements to the fountain, and reconstruction of planter boxes. This project will support increased accessibility in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and enhance streetscape amenities through the replacement of benches, garbage cans, and bicycle racks. In addition, the tree inventory and local canopy will provide the opportunity to increase the variety of tree species, by planting 25 new trees in soil cells.

Impact
To safely and efficiently construct these improvements, the project will be undertaken in two phases. Both phases will require Main Street to be reduced to a single lane of traffic while maintaining travel in a single direction, southbound on Main Street (between Ogden Avenue to Burlington Avenue), and angled parking will also be available on Main Street for the duration of the project.
Timeline
The Village is planning to issue a contract award for construction in late 2026/early 2027, with work expected to begin in spring 2027. The Village will work diligently to ensure that customers have access to all businesses throughout the project area.
